Email Marketing is the Engine Room of Digital Marketing



Email Marketing is the process whereby an advertiser offers a bait in form of freebies to the public in exchange for subscription, which grants the advertiser the permission to send them email messages promoting their products and services through their newsletters and other marketing channels. It is a process by which business entities promote or solicit patronage through email distribution of product updates, adverts and other forms of campaign to a target audience.

Email marketing is the earliest form of digital marketing and one of the most effective digital channels. Regardless of its importance, many digital marketers and social media managers still don't understand the effectiveness of email marketing. It is highly under-rated and often seen as just another regular marketing channel, whereas email marketing is indeed the arm and leg of digital marketing. It is a platform that allows users have direct ono-on-one interaction with with their customers.

There are several instances when your SEO campaigns have helped to generates a lot of leads to you site, and your social media sites have equally attracted large number of visits and engagement such as comments, likes and shares, but all of these still does not translate to sales that is commensurate with the site analytics and have therefore, simply fallen short of your expectation. Research has shown that the success rate of email marketing is incomparable with most other digital marketing channels.

Crucial moments such as these is the time when the efficacy of Email marketing comes to bear, and it is at such times that engaging your audience directly and privately becomes inevitable; moments when you need to communicate with everyone, and trying to build relationships, trying to earn their confidence, and making them subscribe to your mailing list which grants you the permission to communicate with them directly by email. At this juncture, we may want to define email marketing, to help us put in perspective the subject matter.

Email marketing compliments all the other marketing channels by allowing advertisers and social media marketers to establish a close relationship that not only makes retaining existing customers possible, but allows you to increase your new customer base. Digital marketers who use email marketing are more successful than those who do not.

When it comes to targeting a specific audience, with email marketing, sending customers online cards and messages for birthdays, wedding anniversary and reminding customers of new stock and availability of their favourite products, email marketing has no match. The ability of email marketing to help advertisers and digital marketers to build inter-personal relationships is unique and quite effective.

Despite the low patronage of email marketing, it remains one of the oldest forms of digital marketing, and when you look at the numbers in terms of returns on investment, email marketing far exceeds many other channels. There are several reports that show how effective email marketing has fared. In a report published by Email Monday, email marketing average ROI for every $1 spent was as much as $38.

A Mailigen report shows that for 89% of marketers, email serves as the primary channel for lead generation. Another survey conducted by Econsultancy shows that three-quarters of companies agree that email offers "excellent" to "good" ROI. A recent Pew Research Center report, shows that Email top the list of important tools for workers who use the Internet, with email accounting for 61% above Internet users of 54%.
