Technological innovation is creating tremendous impact in our society and driving growth on the Internet in ways never expected to be possible before now, and Google is one of the companies leading this effort. The leading Search Engine company has introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its search algorithm, making the search engine Voice feature more effective and user friendly.
What is Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages. Sometimes it is also referred to as machine intelligence in comparison with the cognitive aspects of the human mind.
Voice Search
Users are now able to make voice search from their mobile devices by simply activating this functionality by signing up at Google Voice or through the Google Voice app on Android or iOS. For mobile devices users can activate the voice feature by clicking the Google microphone icon at the top right part of the Search field and then turn the button on.
For users of desktop computers, they need to first open a Google Account, and they must also have a U.S. phone number that is able to forward calls they receive. However, it must be noted that the Google Voice apps is currently available only in the United States.
The voice search feature has some very interesting capabilities such as the following:
Benefits
1) Text from your computer or mobile phone
2) Read your voicemail and search through it like email
3) Personalize voicemail greetings for family and friends
4) Make international calls at low rates
Get protected from spam calls, block unwanted callers, and screen calls before answering
Emotion Ads Targeting
The Google algorithm upgrade now provide emotion-based ads targeting functionality that allows the search Engine to throw up AdSense ads and AdWords ads based on the users search history. This feature has helped to increase the click-rate as well as the conversion rates for affiliate marketers and publishers.
These tailored adverts are targeted at users and are randomly displayed as pop-ups on their mobile devices and desktop browsers. Emotion search helps reduce frequent visits to the Google to search for products or information, because items that surfers often search for are now suggested to them as pop-up ads.
For both users and advertisers, this feature has proven to be quite resourceful because it saves the user time and for advertisers it helps to increases their revenue, but there are some inadequacies.
Defects
1) Reduce user presence on Google Search
2) Drop in the number of daily visits to Google Search Engine
3) Heightened user curiosity will create suspicion that such intuitive pop-up ads may be targeted at them by scammers.
Google Assistant
This is one of the most revolutionary innovations by the company in recent times. Google Assistant is an interactive voice-centric help feature that engages a user with almost human accuracy. The Google Assistant is an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant developed by the company and it is primarily available on mobile and smart home devices. [Wikipedia].
Google Assistant can engage a user in a conversation and help with the management of tasks such to send a text, set reminders, turn on battery saver and look up emails. It can also plan daily schedules including flight status, dinner reservation, time movie, and locate service stations. You can make photo memories and get answers or control home devices (IoT); play music and video as well as control Google Play and YouTube music online.
Conclusion
Artificial Intelligence is increasingly gaining relevance in today’s tech environment. Like many other technology companies, Google’s introduction of AI in its Search Engine application has greatly improved usability and brought a new user experience.
