Blogging For A Living

Blogging has gone beyond what was originally a past time to a full time occupation. So many people, especially unemployed women and nursing mothers have taking to blogging as a business, which they manage from home. Blogging requires little of no capital to start. For a beginner, all that is required is to convert your smart phone or a laptop to a business tool, that is, if you already have one.
Blogs are synonymous with content marketing and they are a great platform for Search Engine Marketing. Bloggings are content curators and as such they also write regularly about specific subjects of interest as experts and to keep the public informed by sharing their expertise. Other content types produced by bloggers including videos, animated GIF, infographics, cinemagraph and many more. All of these is to try and appeal to their audience and drive traffic to their blog.
As a form of social engagement, blogging is a pre-occupation that is ‘driven by passion.’ Most blogs are  to communicate and inform their audience of new ideas, techniques, products or services, which may help their followers better their lives or business. It is also a platform for educating their target audience or a niche market or individuals with special or specific interest such as gossip, soul mate, digital marketing, sports, confectionary, fashion, health and others.
The days when bloggers use mostly informal language are diminishing quite fast as increasing number of people are becoming professionals and earn a living from it. Blogging, whether it is for a company's blog or a personal blogging site, the language is often an informal style, which appeals to both the individual and corporate audience. Most company’s blogs are used for promoting their brand in ways that build relationship within them and  their customers as well as followers. However, for most private bloggers, they use the platform to propagate certain ideologies and promote their brand.
The most common blogging sites are for free. Most digital marketing blogs, provide free contents, but they have a motive to make money, which they conceal using deep links, banners and text links in their sites or pages with a payment cart, so that they are not seen as though they are operating an ecommerce storefront.

The experienced bloggers use opt-in emailing marketing to lure unsuspecting visitors of free trial versions of products and services that are tied to your debit card, and start deductions, usually after about 30 days trial period. Other ways money is associated with blogging sites are through affiliate programme or Google AdWords; which is inserted into blog using deep link, text links and banners, and the affiliate networks and Google pays certain amount as commission for the number of clicks-through to advertiser’s sites. The earnings from affiliate marketing runs into billions of dollars globally from commission earned.

Therefore, bloggers make money, but there is also a lot of hard work involved, because a blog requires constant update and engagements and reactions. This is not the same with most websites. There is nothing wrong in blogging for money, because materials you are publishing are your copyright, and you deserve fair earning is from your intellectual property. Quite a large of blogging sites fail to generate the expected returns, because of wrong target audience, poor promotion of the blog and ineffective marketing strategy.
